I’d like to do some mapping in OpenHistoricalMap (OHM) based on old maps of Korea.
I’m focus a lot on North Korea in normal times, but for this project I would also like to look at South Korea. And I would map, why not, old big cities like Seoul/Busan/Daegu?
Do you have any sources of old high-resolution maps of Korea, particularly Seoul and Pyongyang and the country’s other major cities between 1880 and 1950?
At the moment I have
- Korea Maps - Perry-Castañeda Map Collection - UT Library Online (including https://maps.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/seoul_city_plans_1946.jpg and https://maps.lib.utexas.edu/maps/ams/korea_city_plans/txu-oclc-6565231.jpg)
- Commons - Category:Old maps of Korea (but these maps are not precise enough)
But the maps on maps.lib.utexas.edu are very often American, from the 1940s-1950s.
Are Korean (and Japanese…) maps available for the years 1880 to 1950?
